Dia De Los Muertos
2 minute read
A busy yet fun week – Día de los Muertos celebrations, museums, Spanish, GF, friends, etc. I did so much but don’t feel much like writing at the moment (in a good way – I sometimes don’t want to write when I’m in a good mood). I am getting to the point that I can understand deeper Spanish accents. For example, my roommate and his cousin came out for celebrations, and I understood 95% of what was said. When I didn’t understand, I was able to navigate it and ask or discern. Pretty cool… I feel and live the progress.
Bottom line: running away from my previous life to Mexico has been the absolute right decision for me thus far
Next Mission: continue with previous habits & keep grinding Spanish
Actions
- Continued exercise, waking up at 0615, eating betterish, doing all assignments, daily Spanish flashcards/listening/Duolingo, etc. – ran 5.3km Saturday, the most so far at this godforesaken altitude but it was great
- Had 2 deep emotional convos with GF about the ephemerality of our relationship… cried twice… more connected than ever… some of the best sex and dates of my life this week… we have 5 weeks left together
- Weekly accountability call has been consistent with a best friend back home, new accountability call every 2 weeks with other friend, and new life update call monthly with other friend – so blessed with friends IRL and steady far-away ones
- Officially quit my old job… they said they had been contacting me a bunch and thought something happened, but I only received one message from my previous supervisor… good riddens. It was a great job when I needed it, but it’s time to move on (and my ex works there so even more reason to end it)
